Female Tigers
In earlier times, women were oppressed. But after the LTTE started, women became revolutionary, because they want a free country. They will sacrifice themselves for that, and so they are fighting. We welcome that. In earlier times, women were undeveloped, women were at the bank. They wouldn't go out and they didn't talk with anyone. Now it's not like that. Now they have grown themselves and they do their own work... My daughter always studied well, A level. But the two of them wanted to join so they did. In the beginning we thought we should get them back, but now I'm proud of them…..In the beginning it was hard for us that our two kids went soon after each other to join the LTTE. But after some while, I realized only through struggle can we get a free country. -Veelaayutham Selvarasa, 54 years Read more stories from Sri Lanka
