Sri Lanka has experienced 60 years of conflict between its two main ethnic groups: the Sinhalese and the Tamils. Conflict has ranged from political protests to state-sponsored pogroms to armed separatist movements. Since the start of January 2009 however, it has been evident that Sri Lanka's conflict includes genocide. |
The mission of People for Equality and Relief in Lanka (PEARL) is to end the systemic human rights abuses against the Tamil population in Sri Lanka, and promote equality, rights and justice on the island. PEARL is 501(c)3 non-profit organization led by human rights activists concerned about the situation in Sri Lanka. |
