Action Alert ArchiveAsk State Department to Investigate AbductionJanuary 7, 2009 I am writing to call your urgent attention to the abduction of a young boy in Colombo, Sri Lanka. On December 31st, between 5:50 and 6:00pm, a young boy and his father went to the Aluthmawatha Rd. and De La Salle St. junction in Colombo to make a phone call. The boy was abducted in a white van with the serial number 251 6375. The van had a 12 inch dark blue border on the bottom. There were about 6 men in civilian attire in the van, and when the father tried to stop them they used foul language and chased him away. The person in charge of the communication center to which the boy and father initially came, as well as several others, were witnesses to the incident. Soon after, the mother and father ran to a nearby police station. Witnesses were questioned about the incident but most were unwilling to talk. One among the crowd said he recognized one person in the white van. I urge you to look into this abduction, which happened only last week in Colombo, and to do what you can to help. |
